Try every Membership feature for real.
This is Lantern Hill Readers, a made-up book club running on Pass the Pad. Sign in on its tablet, join and pay with a test card, use the member portal, buy a ticket, call the API and watch webhooks arrive. Nothing here costs money or emails anyone.

Sign in like a guest at the door.
This is the club's real sign-in screen, running as a tablet just for you. Type a couple of letters of a name (try Ro or Oc) to see returning guests, tap an email ending, and sign in. Turn your wifi off and sign in again: it saves on the tablet and uploads when you're back.
- Members get a "Welcome back" and are counted as members at the door.
- Hold the logo for two seconds and enter PIN
2468for the organizer tools: tonight's list, switching events and checking in tickets. - Guests can also sign in on their own phone: scan the QR code under the form, or open the phone sign-in page.
Join and pay, right on the club's website.
The form on the right is the club's join form, embedded the way any club pastes it into its own website. Pick a level and fill it in. To prove the email address is real, the club emails a link to finish: open it from the demo inbox, pay on the simulator's page, and you're a member, with a receipt and a portal login.
- Free, yearly, monthly, family and lifetime levels; paid levels can renew themselves.
- The money goes to the club's own Stripe or PayPal account. Pass the Pad never takes a cut.
- Owners build forms in the dashboard and copy one line of code onto their website.
Members look after themselves.
In the portal a member sees their membership and when it renews, renews early or upgrades, turns auto-renew off, changes the card on file, updates their details and downloads receipts. They log in with a password or a link emailed to them.
To try the emailed link: enter robin.hobb@demo.passthepad.com on the portal page and choose "Email me a link", then open it from the demo inbox.
Dues that renew themselves.
Members on a monthly or yearly level can renew automatically on their card. Everyone else gets friendly reminder emails before their membership ends, with a one-tap renewal link. Lapsed members get a grace period before they stop counting as members.
- Join with auto-renew in step 2, then open the payment simulator to make the next renewal happen now, or fail, and watch the membership and the webhooks follow.
- Several members' memberships end in the next two weeks: see their renewal reminders and links in the dashboard.
The tablet knows who's a member.
When a member signs in on the tablet, their visit counts on their member record and the club sees members and guests separately in its reports. A guest who joins the mailing list at the door can be given a free "Reader" membership automatically.
Sell tickets, then check them in on the same tablet.
Tonight's author reading has tickets on sale, with a free ticket type for members. Buy one or two, pay on the simulator, and you'll get tickets with QR codes. Then check them in from the tablet's organizer tools (PIN 2468), even with the wifi off.
Sell the anthology, the tote bag and the bookmarks.
A small shop for the club, with a cart, discount codes and orders the club fulfils. Try the code READER10 for 10% off.
One-off and monthly gifts, with year-end statements.
Donors choose an amount, give once or monthly, and get a receipt with the club's tax wording. In January the club emails everyone a printable giving statement for the year.
An opt-in directory of members.
Members choose whether they're listed and what's shown. Log in as Robin Hobb first to see the directory members see, and to edit her own entry.
Lock parts of the club's own website to members.
A small script on the club's website shows members-only content to signed-in members and a "Sign in" button to everyone else. Try it on the club's pretend website, signing in as Robin Hobb.
Join, renewal, donation and contact forms.
Every form works on its own page or embedded on the club's website, and every submission lands in the dashboard.
- Join Lantern Hill Readers (join form)
- Renew your membership (renewal form)
- Volunteer sign-up (contact form)
Everything the club runs, in one place.
Log in as the owner and look around. Every button works, except the few that would spoil the demo for others, like changing the password or the club's plan.
Bring your members over, and keep their auto-renewals.
Download a sample MembershipWorks export, then import it as the owner. Pass the Pad reads the levels, labels and past attendance, flags people who are already in the club, and shows you everything before it changes anything.
- Attendance labels like
Event-Critique-20260917become past sign-ins. - Members who pay automatically keep their saved card in the club's own Stripe. On the takeover date you choose, Pass the Pad charges each card on its renewal day.
Connect your website and other tools.
Every club gets its own API keys. Try real requests against the demo club below; changes you make show up in the dashboard, and they fire webhooks (step 15). The full reference is on the developers page.
none yet
Your website hears about changes straight away.
The demo club sends signed webhooks to a pretend club website. They appear below as they arrive: join in step 2, buy a ticket, or add a member with the API, and watch. Each one carries a PTP-Signature header; a green tick means the signature checked out.
Waiting for webhooks…
Receipts, reminders and newsletters.
Pass the Pad sends members their receipts, login links, reminders and tickets, and the club can write newsletters to any group: members of a level, people who came to an event, lapsed members. In the demo they all land in the demo inbox instead.
Let an AI assistant run the errands.
Copy a prompt into Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant that can make web requests. They're filled in with the demo club's address and its demo API key, so the assistant works with the real demo data. Watch what it does in the dashboard and the webhook log.
The assistant reads the API guide at /developers/agents.txt. With your own club, give it a key with only the permissions the job needs, and start with a test key.
Renewal follow-upFinds memberships ending soon and drafts a personal note to each person, without sending anything.
Use the Pass the Pad API for Lantern Hill Readers (the Pass the Pad demo club). The API guide is at https://demo.passthepad.com/developers/agents.txt: read it first. My API key is ptp_live_27rmiKZaHoB3L85kz8mXCSMwmGJGRgJL (send it as "Authorization: Bearer <key>"). Find every member whose membership is ending in the next 30 days (GET /members?status=expiring). For each person, look up their membership level and how often they have come to events lately (GET /signins?member_id=). Then give me a table: name, level, end date, visits in the last 90 days. Below it, draft a short, warm renewal note for each person that mentions something true from their attendance. Don't change anything and don't send anything: drafts only.
Regulars who aren't members yetLooks at who keeps coming to events and suggests who to invite to join.

My API key is ptp_live_27rmiKZaHoB3L85kz8mXCSMwmGJGRgJL (send it as "Authorization: Bearer <key>"). Look at sign-ins from the last three months (GET /signins, passing each page's next_cursor as starting_after until has_more is false). Find people who signed in three or more times but have no current membership (check GET /members?email= or GET /memberships?member_id=). List them with how many times they came and which events, most frequent first, and suggest a friendly one-line invitation to join for each. Read only: don't change anything.
Add members from a spreadsheetAdds a list of people safely: a dry run first, then for real, never twice.

My API key is ptp_live_27rmiKZaHoB3L85kz8mXCSMwmGJGRgJL (send it as "Authorization: Bearer <key>"). I'll paste a list of people (name and email) below. Add each one to the club with POST /members. First do a dry run with a test key (ptp_test_...) if I give you one, and show me what would happen. When I say go, do it for real, sending an Idempotency-Key header made from the email address so a retry never adds anyone twice. Report who was added, who was already there, and any errors with the API's message. [paste the list here]
Tonight's event reportSummarises an event: who registered, who came, members and guests.

Find tonight's event (GET /events), then get its registrations (GET /events/{id}/registrations) and its sign-ins (GET /signins?event_id=). Tell me: how many registered, how many came, how many were members and how many guests, and who registered but didn't come. Finish with three short bullet points I could share with the club's board. Read only.
Build a webhook receiverWrites a small server endpoint that checks signatures and handles each event once.

My API key is ptp_live_27rmiKZaHoB3L85kz8mXCSMwmGJGRgJL (send it as "Authorization: Bearer <key>"). Write a small web endpoint (in the language I name below; default Node.js with no frameworks) that receives Pass the Pad webhooks. It must: read the raw body; verify the PTP-Signature header (t=<time>,v1=<HMAC-SHA256 of "t.body" with my signing secret>) using a constant-time comparison and reject anything older than 5 minutes; answer 200 quickly; and skip any PTP-Event-Id it has already handled. For membership.started and membership.renewed, add or update the person in a CSV file; for membership.lapsed, mark them as lapsed. Include instructions for registering the endpoint with POST /webhooks and for testing it. Language: [Node.js]
